Brazen vandals tore up the turf at the Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre during a late-night hoon.
Residents were shocked to wake up to the grass at the TEC centre completely destroyed on Sunday morning.
The damage appears to have been done by hoons who drove recklessly onto the lawn on Saturday night and did doughnuts before departing from the scene.
A local woman, Debbie Breen, took to ‘Everything Townsville’ facebook page with photos of the “senseless destruction” and labelled the act “disappointing”.
Only a few weeks ago funding was secured for Currajong Park to have protective boulders installed after it became a “haven for hooning” and was repeatedly destroyed.
A Queensland Police spokesman said they had not yet been contacted about the incident.
