Caravan burnt down after emergency calls to Flinders Hwy

A fire inside a caravan has caused property damage but no injuries when it caught ablaze on the Flinders Hwy, outside Charters Towers.

QFES have reported the caravan fire was extinguished by the time they arrived on scene and their services were not required.

Queensland Police said they received a call to the fire at around 1.45pm but they were not required to attend.

It is not fully confirmed if the caravan caught fire while on the road, or at a campsite near the highway.

QFES have reported they are responding to reports of a caravan on fire about “5kms from the Burdekin Bridge”.

The incident is listed as being located on the Townsville-side of the Burdekin.
