Palm Creek Folk Festival 2023: Line-up, new name revealed for Townsville event

Fans of the Palm Creek Folk Festival will have to keep an eye out for a new name, and all new line-up of talent as the popular music event prepares to return.
Now billed as the Townsville Folk Festival, the four-day long family-friendly music extravaganza is set to return for it’s 32nd year in June.
Festival co-ordinator Corrie Segboer was chosen to better reflect the surroundings and home of the camping and music weekend.
“Like other great festivals, such as Woodford Folk Festival, Gympie Muster, and Tamworth Country Music Festival, we wanted our new name to proudly represent our local community and location,” Ms Segboer said.
“We are still the same passionate group of people organising, volunteering, and attending the Festival. We are very proud to have such a long history of showcasing all that is good about our region with a focus on live original music and creative arts.”
“Our volunteers have faced many challenges over the years while establishing a new site and recovering from the impacts of Covid. We are happy with what we have achieved in the last three years.”
Ms Segboer said the festival helps put Townsville on the map as an arts and culture spot, as well as other benefits.
“Every year in June, when thousands of people pack up and go camping and listen to live music with us over four days, this activity generates economic impact for our region.”
The first round of acts announced to be featuring at the upcoming show will be Fat Picnic, Sunday Lemonade, Tasha Zappala, Late November and cello-wielding indie-folk artist Monique Clare.
More artists are expected to be announced before the June 8 start date of the festival, with the music rolling through until June 11.
