A very lost b-double has gotten stuck in the Townsville CBD, a crash as partially closed the Flinders Hwy, and more.
A very lost B-double has caused chaos in the Townsville CBD right on lunchtime, after the oversized vehicle became jammed while trying to turn at a tight uphill intersection on Denham St.
It is understood the driver was following his GPS and also stalled half-way through the traffic lights.
Both police and RoadTek are on the scene.
Avoid both Denham St and Walker St for the time being.
Flinders Hwy truck roll over
Debris and fuel were scattered across the Flinders Highway when a truck towing a trailer rolled near Pentland, forcing emergency services to block the road on Friday morning.
A Queensland Police spokesman said police, ambos and fireys responded to the crash, which was reported at 8.32am on the Flinders Highway, about 16km west of Pentland, near Warrigal Creek.
He said the driver was able to get free of the vehicle.
Debris and diesel was spilt onto the highway, leading to a total road closure, before it was scaled back to a single lane operating, with the westbound lane blocked.
A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said the driver suffered minor injuries, including back pain, before being transported to Charters Towers Hospital in a stable condition.
Police handed the responsibility for traffic control at the crash scene over to Charters Towers Regional Council.
The council has been approached for an update.
Man rushed to hospital after lightning strike
A North Queensland man was rushed to hospital after his house was struck by lightning.
Queensland Ambulance Services responded to a call at 5:38pm on Thursday afternoon to a home in Richmond Hill.
A QAS spokeswoman said they went to the house where the man in his 30s was experiencing chest pain after a lightning strike had hit his house.
They rushed him to Charters Towers Hospital in a stable condition.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), areas around Charters Towers, including Ravenswood were hit with 18 millimetres of rain, while Sellheim recorded three millimetres.
The rain is set to continue into the weekend however, with showers forecasted for Townsville on Saturday morning while Charters Towers may experience more thunderstorms from Friday into Sunday.
