A man in his 50s has been taken to Townsville University Hospital after a workplace incident left him with a nail lodged in his upper groin.

Paramedics responded to reports that a man had been shot in the upper groin with a nail gun about 6.45am on Monday.

It is understood that the workplace incident took place along Ingham Rd in Mount Louisa.

Paramedics transported a man in his 50s in a stable condition to Townsville University Hospital, according to the Queensland Ambulance Service.
