A woman who police allege killed a man at a Townsville cinema has had her charges mentioned in court as the case is expected to ‘move forward’.

Police allege Jennette Louise Prior stabbed her 39-year-old partner before he fell from the top of a former cinema complex located on the corner of Blackwood and Sturt Streets in Townsville CBD in June last year.

The man died a week later in hospital.

On Friday morning in Townsville Magistrates Court the 51-year-old’s defence lawyer, Mikaila Ward from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Services, appeared on the woman’s behalf.

She said they were waiting on a brief of evidence but was happy to receive a partial brief.

Police prosecutor Catherine Elkins said the prosecution’s office had received the remaining DNA evidence.

“The arresting officer indicated it’s only the telecommunication statements that’s outstanding but he’s expecting it in a few weeks,” she said.

“So I can start moving this forward, it would be my preference to receive a partial brief,” Ms Ward said.

Magistrate Cathy Wadley adjourned the matter to October 25 for a committal mention.

Ms Prior has been charged with murder, wounding and grievous bodily harm, she is remanded in custody.

No pleas have been entered.
