The country’s political leaders and key regional stakeholders gathered at the National Bush Summit, which was launched in Townsville, to find solutions about regional and rural concerns around transport, infrastructure, education, business, innovation and health.
Bush Summits were also held during the past week in Bendigo, Launceston, McLaren Vale, Orange and Port Hedland.
Guests at the Bush Summit in Townsville included Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Premier Steven Miles and federal and state opposition leaders Peter Dutton and David Crisafulli, Port of Townsville CEO Ranee Crosby, Indigenous elder and activist Gracelyn Smallwood, Qantas CEO Vanessa Hudson, and Cowboys player Reuben Cotter to name a few.
At the Bush Summit, held at The Ville Resort-Casino, the Prime Minister pledged $100m to rebuild Reef HQ.
