Emergency services have successfully extinguished a double car fire involving a fuel spill and lithium battery fire that sparked in the Stuart industrial area.
Fire crews were called out to reports of a car fire at 10.19am, on Saturday, March 15.
On arrival crews found two cars on fire in a storage yard on Southwood Rd.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesperson said crews extinguished and pulled out the cars and located a fuel spill and lithium battery.
A foam blanket was used to contain and douse the fuel spill, and the lithium battery was placed in a “bath of solution” to neutralise it.
No one was injured.
Southwood Rd is home to several car yards, used car dealers, tyre shops, and other commercial businesses.
It is not known if the lithium battery was an carriable ‘engine bay’ style battery or an inbuilt battery under an electric vehicle.
Fire crews left the scene at 12.30pm.
