E-scooter rider hospitalised after violent Hyde Park robbery

A young man is recovering in hospital after a violent late night robbery in Hyde Park which saw his electric scooter stolen. Here are the details.

A young man is recovering in hospital after a violent late night robbery in Hyde Park which saw his electric scooter stolen.

Police said initial investigations indicate a 23-year-old man was riding an electric scooter along Bayswater Road, Hyde Park when he was approached by a man on a push bike around 10.30pm on Wednesday.

The assailant threatened the young man before physically assaulting him, causing him to fall off the scooter and sustain injuries.

The attacker then stole the electric scooter and fled the scene, heading towards Kings Road. Authorities believe the two men involved are known to each other.

Paramedics transported the man to Townsville University Hospital with laserations.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing, and officers are appealing to anyone who may have information that may assist to come forward.
