A respected grazier who tragically died after a motorbike crash in North Queensland has been remembered as a ‘hardworking’ family man with a ‘heart of gold.’

Cam Maxwell, 68, sadly died in hospital on Wednesday after being seriously injured in a devastating motorbike crash two weeks ago.

The incident unfolded along Hornes Road, Broughton, where emergency services rushed to the aid of Mr Maxwell after he was found unresponsive after a crash just before 10am on Thursday, March 14.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, his condition remained critical as he was swiftly transported to Charters Towers Hospital.

The severity of his injuries led to his transfer to Townsville University Hospital, where he tragically died 13 days later.

A flood of condolences followed the announcement of his passing on Facebook, including Zara Chalmers, who hailed Mr Maxwell as “one of the hardest working men I’ve ever met.”

“Nothing was ever too much trouble,” she wrote. “Just an all-round good fella.”
