Rasmussen has been ranked Queensland’s least trendy place, with nothing to really offer visitors.
B2C Furniture, a furniture company with stores in Melbourne and Sydney, has decided that Rasmussen is the least trendy destination in the northern state, closely followed by Freshwater, Innisfail, Beenleigh and Burpengary.
The company used Google Maps to scrape data, looking for cafes, boutique shops, art galleries, street art, street markets and theatres.
The company found that Rasmussen’s centre is on the southern boundary of the suburb, where there are five cafes, four boutiques, a school, a church, a community centre and a sports ground.
Its data found it was a “quite residential area rather than a thriving metropolis”, and it was scored -4.57 on the ‘trendy scale’.
B2C Furniture found that Gold Coast, Corinda, Brisbane, Yaroomba and Cairns were the most trendy places in Queensland.
When it came to Innisfail, the third least trendy place in Queensland, B2C Furniture found that it was known for sugar cane and banana farms – but not being trendy.
“The latest census data reveals the town has a population of around 10,000 which explains why it has more cafes, boutiques, markets and theatres than Freshwater and Rasmussen,” the company said.
“If you’re looking to explore wilderness trails, beautiful bays, rainforests and rivers then Innisfail might just be the place for you. But don’t expect many ‘Insta-worthy’ cafes with lines snaking out the door.”
