LITTLE dancers’ feet are moving to the beat of the music to raise money for a much-loved Australian charity.
AstarA dance studio at Currajong has joined the Ronald McDonald House Charities Dance for Sick Kids fundraiser.
The event encourages individuals, dance studios, workplaces and schools to dance every day for seven days while raising money for their efforts.
Dance instructor Tara Howard said the studio would be participating in the fundraiser until National Families Week from May 15 to 21.
“We log our dancing hours every day at the Ronald McDonald House website and at the end our studio will be given a choreography link and we will all do a mass dance,” she said.
“We have had a few heart kids dance at the studio and I just feel like the Ronald McDonald House is a really broad fundraiser.”
So far the studio has raised $320 out of a goal of $480.
Dancer Samantha Brennan, 8, said it was awesome to be participating in the dance challenge.
“I can’t stop smiling. This fundraiser is such a great idea and it’s so exciting,” she said.
Allie Fletcher, 7, said she was “proud” to be part of “something so great”.
Ms Howard said the dances were “very upbeat”, “very jazzy and funky and slightly commercial hip-hop”.
“They are doing something they love but they are also fundraising for children who might not have the opportunity to dance,” she said.
