Toowoomba teen Keely Geiger was flown to Townsville Hospital with multiple injuries, including a cracked sternum and a broken arm and femur, after she and her friend Andrew got hit by a car in Mount Isa on Friday, August 5.

Police will allege a white Toyota Prado, believed to be stolen, was seen driving erratically through various suburbs during the early hours of the morning.

A tyre deflation device was deployed by cops along East St, Townsview and the Toyota Prado allegedly turned onto the street at speed and lost control.

Keely Geiger, 18, was flown to Townsville Hospital after being hit by an allegedly stolen car in Mt Isa on August 5.

Police said the driver of the car veered onto the medium strip and struck two pedestrians, Keely and Andrew, who had been on their way home after a night out.

It will be alleged the driver did not stop to render assistance and fled the scene in the vehicle.

Keely’s mother, Tanielle Thompson-Geiger, said the impact of the crash flung her daughter backwards and Andrew was left unconscious on the road.

“A woman who ran to help them said she came out of her house and could just hear my daughter screaming out for help and asking if her friend was all right,” she said.

Her injuries included a broken arm and femur.

“The car hit her front on. She was left covered in bruises and skin off all down her body.

“She had a cracked sternum. Both bones were broken in her arm, and had a broken femur.

“Andrew had a fractured pelvis and ruptured spleen.”

She said the 18-year-old had been left traumatised by the ordeal.

“She told me: Mum, I was laying in the ambulance thinking, this is it. I’m dying. I’m dying,” she said.

“She just graduated from high school and deferred university because she had an internship opportunity with the Mt Isa Rodeo Association.

“She was a student leader, volunteer, just a great kid, and after this crash, she’s become a shell of herself.

“She doesn’t want to go out, and she’s in pain all the time.”

Police said three people have been charged in relation to the alleged incident.

An 18-year-old Pioneer boy has been charged with four counts of dangerous driving and one count of unlawful use. He is due to reappear on October 10.

A 14-year-old Mount Isa boy has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving, one count of burglary and one count of unlawful use. He was due to reappear on September 13.

A 15-year-old Doomadgee teen has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving, one count of burglary and one count of unlawful use. They are due to reappear on October 14.
