EX-CLP Treasurer Dave Tollner has lashed his former party for its lack of vision and its compliance with the Labor Government.
Speaking to Katie Woolf on Mix104.9 on Wednesday, Mr Tollner said the Opposition hadn’t done enough to hold Labor to account.
“The CLP at the moment has gone along with just about every single thing the Gunner Government has done,” he said.
“I don’t think they’ve turned their minds to what it actually means to run the Territory.
“They’re probably sitting there thinking about how they’re going to win the next election.
“But to be frank, you can’t operate in politics unless you have a vision and you know what you want to do.
“After that you’ve got to take it out and sell it to the people, but if you don’t have the vision and don’t know what you want to do you’re just a leaf in the breeze.”
Mr Tollner also went on a lengthy tirade about Labor’s attempt to squeeze hundreds of millions from the Commonwealth for a Darwin shiplift.
In 2015, the CLP signed off to spend $100 million on the shiplift in a joint partnership with the Paspaley Group. Mr Tollner said the four year delay was incomprehensible.
“What the hell have Federal Government got to do with it?” he asked.
“Why doesn’t the government just approve it? Why don’t they let Paspaley go ahead and do it?
“Who cares (how much it costs); Paspaley have the contract, they’re going to own it. Just let them do it.
“Get out of the way.”
