THE Tiwi Bombers must come back after Christmas with some rocket powered fuel and a ruthless attitude, joint coach Shane Tipuamantimirri said this week.
The Bombers might have achieved their pre-season aim of six wins by Christmas, but the man the Tiwis call “Tippa’’ wants more.
“Compared to last year when we didn’t play well before Christmas, we’ve got the six or seven wins we wanted before the break,’’ he told the NT News.
“We know it’s been a challenge because of last year, but we’ve stuck to our plans and worked really hard to be where we are now.
“Wanderers probably should have beaten us last week because we weren’t switched on in the second and third quarters.
“We missed targets, were second to the footy .
Tipuamantimirri said the players had to stay focused in the post-Christmas season .
“We’ve got to get to training as a team and doing all the little things that are going to make a big difference on where we finish,’’ he said.
“There are a few blokes who need to do a bit more on their fitness, like Ross Tungatalum and Richard Puruntatameri.
“A lot of the boys from down south are reloading because spots in the side will be hard to come by next year.’’
