A deal worth more than $100,000 has seen a major company secure the naming rights of an iconic Red Centre oval for two more years.

TIO has extended the naming rights deal for Traeger Oval with Alice Springs Town Council for another two years to the tune of $130,000.

Alice Springs Town Council Mayor Matt Paterson said the sponsorship would allow the council to further improve facilities at the oval.

“This sponsorship will allow us to improve the facility even further, helping to attract and retain more events as well as our local athletes that call TIO Traeger Park home,” he said.

“Throughout this partnership we have seen some of Australia’s biggest sports come to play at TIO Traeger Park, whether that be hosting the English Cricket Team in 2013, Adelaide United’s visit in 2015, the Sheffield Shield final in 2017 or our annual AFL fixture with the Melbourne Demons.

TIO has held the naming rights to Traeger Park since 2013, with the naming deal now extended to 2026.

TIO head of operations Margaret Pratten said the insurance company had supported football in the Territory for 30 years now.

“AFL is a cornerstone of life in the NT, it brings communities together and it’s fantastic that players who used TIO Traeger Park five or 10 years ago, are now watching their kids play on the same field,” she said.
