Police have spiked an audacious attempt by a group of 10 teenagers to flee Darwin in a convoy of six allegedly stolen cars.
Police swung into action about 2.30am on Sunday after they received reports that a convoy of six allegedly stolen cars were driving from Darwin towards the Victoria Daly Region.
Police say three of the vehicles were allegedly stolen from the Pinelands area.
It is understood NT Police deployed spikes at Adelaide River, where five of the cars were stopped.
Police said that the occupants of the stopped cars fled the scene on foot.
The sixth car avoided the spikes and police engaged in a short pursuit.
Police said this was “later terminated for safety reasons” a short time later.
They said nine of the 10 alleged offenders have been identified by NT Police, with the three males who were arrested aged 15, 17 and 18.
Investigations in to the alleged thefts remain ongoing at time of publication.
