Three players reported for umpire abuse

Three local footballers were reported for abuse of an umpire following a busy weekend for AFL Barwon’s match review panel.
Lara’s Nathan Evans was reported for low level and insulting language after the Cats’ game against Grovedale at Bisinella Oval on Saturday.
Pleading guilty, Evans will miss his club’s next game against St Mary’s.
It comes as Werribee Centrals playing coach Rhyce Prismall will contest a three-match ban for high level abusive and insulting language to an umpire after their five-point loss to Bell Post Hill on Saturday at Galvin Park.
The matter will be heard tonight from 6pm at the tribunal.
Meanwhile, an under-18s boys player from Ocean Grove was suspended for two weeks, and a Bell Park under-16 girls player was reported, for auditory offences.
The matter involving the Bell Park junior, who could accept a two-game ban with a guilty plea, has yet to be determined.
It comes after a St Albans reserves player received a pair of two-week suspensions for abuse and spitting towards an umpire during a practice match against Bentleigh in March.
In the GDFNL, Thomson’s Dylan Jose accepted a reprimand for striking Belmont Lions’ Josh Wilson in the final quarter while Inverleigh’s Josh Viney received the same penalty for rough conduct on Bannockburn’s Aaron Sellar.
In the BFNL, Torquay’s Tom Diamond has accepted a two-game suspension for rough conduct towards Anglesea’s Harrison Ling in the second quarter at Ellimatta Reserve.
Deemed careless conduct, high contact and high impact, it was reduced with an early guilty plea.
In junior football, an Ocean Grove under-18s player was suspended for three matches for striking a Colac opponent; a Leopold under-18s player was banned for two matches for a dangerous tackle on a St Joseph’s rival and a Torquay player received a reprimand for kicking a Geelong West opponent.
