The new owners of Strand venue Anelay Rooftop Bar and Restaurant have revealed that it will now be known as The Beach Hotel, a name better suited to its coastal location and renovated interior.
Opened in late 2021 at 70 The Strand, the beachside venue was confirmed to be purchased by Kickon Group in early June, a prominent player in Australia’s hospitality industry which also operates the nearby Watermark Townsville.
In advance of its reopening in early July, extensive renovations were underway to reimagine the venue by reorienting the bar and kitchen, creating more space on both levels, and embracing a fresh pastel colour scheme.
The Beach Hotel manager and part owner Bart Furst wanted the upgraded venue to become the ultimate spot to catch up with friends, enjoy a meal with the family, or take in the endless views with a drink in hand.
“The Beach Hotel is all about creating a space where our guests can unwind and enjoy elevated pub food and great drinks,” Mr Furst said.
“Our goal is to provide great service in an atmosphere that celebrates the stunning views over Magnetic Island and Cleveland Bay as well as the laid back vibe of Townsville.”
Kickon Group’s Culinary Director, Jake Furst said diners should expect a focus on quality and creativity throughout The Beach Hotel’s menu, which will feature innovative pub classics and mouth-watering dishes.
“The transformation of this venue is something we’re really excited about,” Mr Furst said.
“We’ve put a lot of thought into the menu to ensure it offers a bit of everything, utilising local suppliers wherever possible.”
The venue will offer weekday specials, live entertainment every week, and regular events throughout the year.
“We can’t wait to welcome everyone to The Beach Hotel and share this new concept with the community. It’s going to be a space where good food, good times, and good vibes come together,” Mr Furst said.
A neighbouring resident contacted the Townsville Bulletin to raise noise concerns about the venue.
Kickon Group Marketing Director Tom Allan responded saying the venue would only have cosmetic upgrades and a name change.
A Townsville City Council spokeswoman said in accordance with the approved Noise Impact Assessment at the venue, there were stringent conditions on the approval for hours of operation and noise management measures.
