The PINT Queenants surprised everyone but themselves with a finals-like win over the Buffettes

PINT has made a dramatic entry into the Women’s Premier League top six by beating early season pacesetters the Darwin Buffettes by 24 points

PINT has made a dramatic entry into the Women’s Premier League top six by beating early season pacesetters the Darwin Buffettes by 24 points.

The Queenant’s 6.7 (43) to 3.1 (19) upset win lifted them past Wanderers on points for and against after both sides were locked together on match ratio percentages.

“It’s a great feeling, we got away from them early and hung on at the end when they came at us,’’ PINT’s joint coach Katie Streader said.

The green and yellow jumpers did came out of the blocks in a hurry in the game at Marrara Cricket Ground, booting four goals to nothing in the first quarter and maintaining that lead until the final siren.

Kristen Smits kicked two vital goals to be among her side’s best players, along with midfielder Casey Morris and Erin Lavis on a wing.

Palmerston will meet PINT in an elimination final after knocking Wanderers out of the premiership race last night.

The Magpies won by 36 points, 9.9 (63) to 4.3 (27). Janet Baird through the middle, Cairns recruit Laquoiya Motlap on a wing and Khani White down back starring for the Pies.

Prolific Southern Districts spearhead Ebony Miller kicked her third bag of 10 goals in the Crocodiles’ 131-point thrashing of St Mary’s.

Miller took her season’s tally to 59 goals with the double figure haul as the Crocodiles ran to a 19.17 (131) to 0.0 (0) win and a qualifying final against last season’s grand final conquerors Waratah.

Tahs beat Tracy Village by an even 100 points at the Village ground, captain Lisa Roberts turning goalkicker by kicking five goals in the 14.17 (101) to 0.1 (1) win.
