No one can say the Launceston mayor isn’t committed to the bit.
After posting to his social media, Mayor Matthew Garwood, has gone ahead and inked a “trash” tattoo on the palm of his hand.
On Friday, he was seen needing to swap hands to shake because of his new body art.
Mr Garwood said he had his other hand tattooed recently, but this was dedicated to one of his favourite bands, Memphis May Fire, with his left palm now dedicated to trash and cash.
The tattoo, which was prompted by Mr Garwood’s followers, was a tattoo of a rubbish bin with the words “talk trash, spend cash”.
Mr Garwood posted a “thirst trap” picture on his Facebook page a few weeks prior.
He said it was in response to a comment he was using rates to pay for his tattoos and wanted some follow ideas for his next ink.
While a few hundred people responded, including comments about his photo, a new ink with either wheelie bin or rates seemed to be the most popular.
Some comments supported Mr Garwood in having a bit of fun, while others told the elected official to put his shirt on and get on with the job.
The following post of the tattoo sketch had comments calling it “iconic”.
Mr Garwood, committed to his word, got the trash talk tattoo done. He proudly showed it off again on Friday when announcing Birchall’s development.
