Court CCTV filmed by someone outside of the NT News has captured the moment a quick-thinking Crown prosecutor caught a man in custody as he attempted to escape from the NT Supreme Court.
The video shows the young man fleeing from security guards and being chased down by lawyers donned in their full official get-up.
After running out the doors and out of view, the escapee was later brought back into the courtroom and escorted away.
And it seems the law has prevailed for another day.
In other wild Territory news and footage this week, a hungry lizard scopes out lunch.
A HUNGRY little lizard looking for a snack mistook Parap man Glen Douglas’ finger for something tastier.
And refused to admit his mistake for a full minute.
The critter held on for dear life as the video shows, and no amount of tugging or twisting would set him free.
Ms Natalizio said she noticed the lizard, described as being “one of those tata lizards that are everywhere”, at the bottom of their outdoor shower when she went into the bathroom and thought it looked “feisty”.
“(Glenn) picked it up and it turned around and bit him and we thought it was the funniest thing ever,” she said.
“Nothing even happened to him — he had cuts on his hands from working all day so the lizard didn’t even make a cut of anything.”
Ms Natalizio said she had just moved into the Parap property, which was undergoing a full renovation, so it wasn’t unexpected to have a run in like she did.
“There’s heaps of wildlife here — we’ve got a few little critters running around,” she said.
Ta ta lizards, also called Gilbert’s dragon, are plentiful in the north west of Australia and are named for the wavelike motion they make when running across hot surfaces.
