FURTHER details around the reopening of Tasmania’s borders are set to be revealed early this week.

Premier Peter Gutwein is expected to announce the staging arrangements for the reopening of our borders in coming days.

Transport Minister Michael Ferguson said as the state reopened they were absolutely focused on keeping Tasmanians safe.

He also discussed the party’s plans for parliament, which resumes on Tuesday.

The second tranche of the state government’s red tape reforms are set to be tabled.

“The legislation that will be tabled this week will provide clear legislated time frames for local government to sign off on development permit conditions and to seal final plans,” Mr Ferguson said.

Opposition Attorney-General Ella Haddad said Labor would table its Donation Disclosure Bill this week.

“After an extensive period of work and community consultation, this should set us on the path to correcting the state’s appalling laws that allow for unlimited political donations to be kept secret from the Tasmanian public,” she said.

A no-confidence vote against Housing Minister Roger Jaensch is also on the cards.

Greens leader Cassy O’Connor said Mr Jaensch lied in parliament, and there was a question of confidence hanging over him.

“We expect there to be a no confidence debate on the first day back on Tuesday, because until this question of confidence is cleared up there’s a huge question mark hanging over Roger Jaensch’s head.

“We believe that he’ll probably get through the no confidence motion, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that Roger Jaensch lied to parliament knowingly.”

Mr Ferguson said all Tasmanians should have confidence in the embattled minister.

“We continue as a government to have full confidence in Roger, he’s working hard doing a fine job and Labor and the Greens are just further explaining to Tasmanians they have no policies,” he said.

Concerns have also continued to be raised about Mr Jaensch’s handling of the Brahimy program.

Ms O’Connor said the Tasmanian children needed to be brought home as quickly as possible following very serious allegations of mistreatment.

Mr Ferguson said what mattered most was what was in the best interest of children in the program.

“My advice is that those children have been deemed as safe and it would not be appropriate to bring them home on a knee-jerk reaction,” he said.

“We are talking about children who have been placed there for a reason.”
