TWENTY people have been killed on Northern Territory roads so far this year.
Here is a list of every crash, when it happened, how it happened and where.
Out of respect, the NT News has chosen not to name the people who have lost their lives.
JANUARY 1
A 24-year-old man died following a single vehicle crash in Ngukurr Community.
At around 2pm, police and local emergency services responded to the crash which occurred on the main street of the township.
The man was ejected from the vehicle which had been observed driving erratically prior to the crash. Sadly, the man later died as a result of injuries suffered during the crash.
FEBRUARY 12
At 12.30pm, police located the body of a missing man on the side of a creek adjacent to Jenkins Rd, Weddell.
Investigations identified that the man had crashed his motorcycle, with the motorcycle coming to rest in the creek.
The crash scene was not immediately noticeable to road users from the roadway. It was evident that the 55-year-old man died at the scene.
FEBRUARY 13
A 57-year-old female has died following a multiple vehicle crash that occurred on Tiger Brennan Drive.
At 8am, police and emergency services responded to a rear-end crash involving four vehicles which were all travelling inbound.
Sadly, the female died at the scene.
FEBRUARY 14
Two people died in a serious traffic crash in the Palmerston area.
Around 11pm, two vehicles were travelling on Roystonea Avenue near the Lambrick Avenue intersection when they collided.
The driver of one vehicle, a 34-year-old woman, died at scene.
Witnesses of the crash were able to remove a 21-year-old male passenger in the other vehicle prior to police arrival.
The man was taken to the Royal Darwin Hospital in a serious condition.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 20-year-old man, was trapped inside the car with the vehicle on fire.
Police at the scene managed to extinguish the fire, and Fire and Rescue members extracted the driver, who died at the scene.
MARCH 4
A 19-year-old man died following a vehicle rollover on the Victoria Highway.
The single vehicle crash occurred approximately 5km east of Timber Creek at around 9.50pm last night.
The surviving 36-year-old male driver and 18-year-old female rear passenger were ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
Both were transferred to Timber Creek Clinic. The man was then airlifted to Darwin for further treatment.
APRIL 19
A 33-year-old Darwin woman died following a single vehicle rollover at Noonamah.
At around 10.30pm, police were on patrol when they happened upon the crashed vehicle on the Stuart Highway near Elizabeth Valley Rd.
The vehicle left the road while travelling inbound, rolled a number of times and crashed into trees.
Emergency service crews extricated the woman from her vehicle.
Sadly, the woman succumbed to her injuries on scene. She was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
MAY 31
A 47-year-old man was riding a motorcycle on Savieri Rd, Tennant Creek when he came off it, just before 1pm.
He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
Police and emergency service workers attended and attempted to resuscitate the man, however he died at the scene.
JUNE 5
A single vehicle rollover occurred between the hours of 11pm Friday 5 June and 2am Saturday 6 June at Alparra.
The incident was reported to police after 2.30pm on Saturday 6 June 2020.
A 24-year-old male suffered fatal injuries and passed away at the scene.
JUNE 8
About 7pm, a 30-year-old was bicycling inbound along Gunn Point Road near Howard Springs Reserve when he was struck from behind by a vehicle travelling in the same lane.
The driver of the vehicle and witnesses travelling nearby stopped to render medical assistance.
St John Ambulance, NT Police and NT Fire & Rescue Service responded to the scene.
The rider died at the scene from his injuries.
JUNE 14
At around midday, police received information that an 8-year-old boy had fallen from a caravan while it was being towed on Edith Farms Road in Katherine.
The child suffered serious injuries and was taken to Katherine District Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
JULY 11
A 48-year-old woman died in a single vehicle crash on a remote road in Delamere.
A member of the public alerted police to the crash, which was 30kms north of the Victoria Highway, around 8.30pm.
Initial investigations indicate the woman, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was driving on the Giwining (Flora) Road, Delamere towards the community of Djurrung when the vehicle hit a tree.
The woman died at the scene.
JULY 15
A woman died and three people, including an 11-month-old boy were injured in a single vehicle rollover north of Tennant Creek.
Local emergency services were alerted by motorists travelling on the Stuart Highway to a single vehicle rollover 55km north of Tennant Creek near the Gibson and South Haywood Creeks around 10.25am.
Two passengers from the vehicle, a 14-year-old boy and an 11-month-old boy, were transported to the Tennant Creek Hospital.
The boy sustained non-life threatening injuries and the baby was medevaced to the Alice Springs Hospital.
A 21-year-old female passenger died at the scene and a 19-year-old male driver was transported to the Tennant Creek Hospital for treatment.
JULY 24
A person died in a single vehicle crash on Stuart Highway.
At around 11.30pm, police received reports of a single vehicle crash about 40km south of Katherine.
Emergency service crews attended however, the person had already died at the scene. Two other occupants were inside the vehicle which caught fire.
They were freed by a group of passing motorists who stopped to assist.
They were transported to Katherine Hospital for medical treatment.
JULY 26
A 68-year-old man died in hospital following a single vehicle crash that occurred on Thursday 23 July 2020.
The crash occurred on a remote and unsealed Finke Rd, about 50km east of Kulgera.
The man is believed to have been a passenger in a 4WD which left the road and rolled a number of times.
Local police and clinic staff responded to the crash and the three occupants were airlifted by Royal Flying Doctor Service to Alice Springs Hospital.
The driver and other passenger remain admitted to Alice Springs Hospital.
AUGUST 15
About 5pm on Saturday 15 August 2020, police received a report of a crash on Barkly Highway approximately 245km east of Tennant Creek.
The vehicle was travelling west when it left the road and hit a tree.
Two men, aged 18 and 52, died at the scene.
AUGUST 23
At around midnight, police attended a single vehicle crash about 160km west of Alice Springs. Police believe the driver of the vehicle had lost control on a bend in the road.
A 39-year-old female passenger died at the scene.
The 44-year-old male driver and three children, aged 9, 10 and 16, were conveyed from a local health clinic to Alice Springs Hospital with minor injuries.
AUGUST 23
About 6pm, police attended A single vehicle crash about 82km west of Maningrida.
Initial reports suggest the vehicle had left the road and hit a tree.
Emergency service crews attended however, sadly a 7-year-old girl died at the scene.
Two women, aged 26 and 42, and a 5-year-old child were conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital.
AUGUST 25
A 34-year old man died after a single vehicle crash about 70km west of Katherine.
At around 4.45am, police received a report of a vehicle rollover.
Emergency service crews attended.
Sadly the man died at the scene.
