A DARWIN businessman and former political candidate have been caught up in a bitter love feud which made its way to court.

A DARWIN businessman and former political candidate have been caught up in a bitter love feud which made its way to court.

While the NT News has chosen not to name the duo, the feud is understood to have first gone public at a Darwin Waterfront bar late last year when a former partner of the businessman confronted the couple.

The incident led to the former political candidate attempting to get a restraining order against the businessman’s former partner in court in December.

It is understood the businessman and former partner had split several months earlier.

The NT News obtained messages from the former partner to family members of the businessman which, in part, said: “I have been with no one else in the 3.5 years with ... (his) actions have cost me emotional upheaval embarrassment and time off work for medical and emotional support.”

The matter has since been settled out of court.

The businessman and former political candidate remain in a relationship.
