A random road rage attack at a Darwin intersection has left a man with multiple facial fractures and chipped teeth.

Shocking footage of the incident in Coolalinga, taken about 1pm on Saturday, is widely circulating on social media.

It shows two people standing beside a dark grey Commodore stopped at traffic lights, repeatedly assaulting the driver through the open window.

The driver, Millner resident Jayden Kearney, can then be seen raising his palm in defence.

His partner Brie’Staria Radovanovich said the pair was not known to Mr Kearney

“Two people jumped out of their white Prado and accused him of pulling the rude finger,” she said.

“Before he could speak to say he didn’t they both started punching him.

“My partner has been left with a fractured jaw and eye socket, a crooked nose, chipped teeth and split lips.

“After … he couldn’t see out of his right eye at all.

“He received medical care at Royal Darwin Hospital (on Saturday), and has to go to the eye clinic to see if he needs plates put in.”

Ms Radovanovich said she and Mr Kearney welcomed a newborn just one week ago.

He was driving alone at the time of the incident.

“We don’t know how much (the medical bills are) going to cost as of yet,” Ms Radovanovich said.

“His anxiety has gotten worse, he can’t properly sleep, he’s afraid to stop at red lights.

“Just hoping we can find who they are and get justice for what has happened.”
