The glamorous Spiegeltent is back for another Darwin Festival, and festival organisers promise cabaret shows, circus acts and an “unforgettable old-world feel” under its roof.

A long-running festival staple, the intimate and cosy venue will present The Party in August, an adult circus that has previously played at the Adelaide Fringe and Brisbane Festival.

Organisers have billed it as a “festival celebration featuring unbelievably talented international circus artists, great music, extravagant costumes and an escalating energy”.

The Partyis brought by production outfit Strut & Fret, who devised last year’s raunchyBlanc de Blanc Encorealsoat the Spiegeltent.

Company director and founder Scott Maidment said along with “lavish costumes” and “incredible acrobatics”, the show “takes risqué humour to a new level”.

“The high-octane dance numbers and the incredible soundtrack with its mix of old-school and recent party anthems gets the audience up dancing at interval and at the end,” Mr Maidment said.

The Sunday Telegraph previously described Blanc de Blanc Encore as “a hilarious, risqué show that runs the risk of upsetting prudish types”.

Tickets for the show go on sale online at 9am, Thursday May 16.

In 2023, the Darwin Festival saw 160,000 people attending, generating a $2.7 million box office return from more than 55,000 ticket sales.

The festival, founded in 1979, is a key pillar of the Territory’s tourism industry, drawing in 10,700 interstate visitors last year and injecting $20.7 million into the local economy.

It runs from August 8 to 25 this year and the full program will be launched on Wednesday, May 29.
