SHOPPING

Most Coles, Woolworths and Aldi stores will be open with their normal trading hours on Tuesday excluding some stores. Make sure to check your local before heading out.

WHAT TO DO ON THE GOLD COAST

AUSTRALIA Day on the Gold Coast might not look this same this year due to the coronavirus but there’s still plenty of events planned to help celebrate the day.

From thong throwing and Aussie-inspired cocktails, to free gelato and a reptile show, there’s plenty of events to choose from.

Fat Freddy’s Beach Bar and Diner

Feast on fresh prawns and wash it down with an icy cold Aussie beer at Freddy’s. You could also try your hand at trivia with your mates from 7pm.Where: 50 Surf Parade, Broadbeach.

Live music and free gelato

Grab yourself a free gelato and hear Wes Taylor play live on The Village Green or tap you roes to the tunes of Mark Divola on The Docks.Where: Marine Village Sanctuary Cove, Masthead Way.

Grab your favourite hornbag and dress in your best 90s-style attire as Nightcap Nobbys throws an iconic Kath and Kim-inspired party.

Australia Day pool party

Cool off while listening to tunes played by an on-site DJ, laze on giant inflatables and enjoy a sausage sizzle at the Aquatic Centre’s Australia Day pool party.

Free reptile show and entertainment

The kids will go wild for the free reptile show or disco with LOL Crew at the Southport Sharks. The grown ups can enjoy live music and Aussie tucker from Frenzy’s.

When: From 4pm.

Cost: Free.

Australia Day BBQ, Bowls & Beats

Get some mates together for a game of lawns bowls from 10am with teams of four, followed by lots of fun including a barbecue, thong throwing and live entertainment.

Krush! Australia Day

Advancetown Hotel are hosting a day full of family friendly games and events, along with music filled with all your Aussie favourites. The hotel will be providing plenty of food and beverages at its new set up with plenty of sun and rain cover.

Irish style Australia Day

Join Waxy’s Irish Pub celebrate Australia Day with a “Straya” themed best dressed competition, live music and plenty of fun and games. Snags will be on the barbie inbetween the lunch and dinner trading hours that include a special ‘Aussie Day’ menu with a $12 Aussie Burger special.
