A 39-year-old Toowoomba man will face Toowoomba Magistrates Court this morning charged over his alleged role in an attempted car jacking
Toowoomba police will allege that the man entered a vehicle that was parked at the Apollo Lodge motel on James Street about 8.55am on Wednesday and demanded keys from the driver.
A QPS spokeswoman said the occupants refused to hand over their keys and drove off.
The man is then alleged to have ran to the Athena Motel Apartments nearby and demanded keys for the staff, saying he was trying to get away from police.
Again they refused and the man ran off and entered a taxi.
Police responded quickly and the man was in custody by about 9.30am.
He was transported to the Toowoomba Hospital for a mental health assessment and remanded in custody overnight to face the Toowoomba Magistrates Court, charged with two counts of attempted robber and other offences.
