Refreshed Hilltop Hoods set for massive Townsville Supercar show

Hilltop Hoods have treated themselves to a tour of Townsville, with an incredible view, ahead of their showing at the Supercars in July.

HIP-HOP TRIO Hilltop Hoods have given fans and revheads a like a sneak peak at the action-packed energy that awaits during a Townsville-targeted detour.
Deep into their first tour since the pandemic began, the South Australian chart-toppers touched down in Townsville yesterday for a tour of the city they’ll claim as their own when they headline the upcoming Supercars event in July.
Daniel ‘Pressure’ Smith said the group were relishing the chance to get back out in front of a crowd after two years of limited showings.

“Now we’re back into it, we’re feeling really good,” Smith said.

“After being away for over two years, the idea of performing in front of 20,000 people can be a bit daunting, so it’s nice to be out there putting music back in the market and playing live again.”

Fellow MC Matt ‘Suffa’ Lambert was happy for the chance to relax as the band got a bird’s eye view of the city from atop Castle Hill.
“It’s funny, it used to be we’d have 200 shows under our belt, now we’re talking about having three done and dusted,” Lambert said.
“But you’re never guaranteed that audience in your head – really, until we got back on stage at Groovin’, we never knew what the response would be.
“I’m not a glass half empty person, but it was a long time and a lot changed.”
The band’s most recent hit, ‘Show Business’ feat. Eamon, will no doubt be among the track-list when they take the stage under the Big Top at the racetrack on July 9 alongside Barry ‘DJ Debris’ Francis, but there’ll also be plenty of other hits to draw from.

“One of the things as artists, we’re very much about bringing live music out to people to really push it,” Smith said.

“Townsville came up as the perfect opportunity to do that and play some of our new tracks for people and get back in front of a crowd.”

The trio are aiming to be fully refreshed and ready to bring the house down when they close out the live entertainment across the weekend.

“This honestly feels like a holiday, being in Townsville right now, we’re getting to stay down at a beautiful resort, we’ve just taken the tour up Castle Hill,” Lambert said.

“You really forget how much you take this for granted when you’re stuck at home day in, day out.”

Tickets are available through Ticketek.
