What you said about Labor’s likely credit rating downgrade

The LNP says it has likely inherited a credit rating downgrade after a more than a decade of Labor... but is it early excuses from the new government or a final insult? HAVE YOUR SAY

Queensland is facing its first credit rating downgrade in 15 years, Treasurer David Janetzki has warned – a financial slap that would make the state’s spiralling debt burden more expensive.

Billions of dollars in project blowouts across transport, energy and health alongside an end to the coal royalties rivers of gold have weakened Queensland’s finances.

Mr Janetzki, in his first major speech since becoming Treasurer, will say the LNP has likely inherited a credit rating downgrade after a decade of Labor rule.

The Courier-Mail’s exclusive story has attracted hundreds of comments, with many lashing out at Labor, but some pondering whether it was simply early excuses from the LNP.

‘THE WRITING WAS ON THE WALL’

Jim

And the landmines left by Labor keep exploding.

Maxwell

So the magic pudding economics has unravelled, again.

The Labor strategy. When the writing is on the wall and you know you are going to get the boot, slash and burn, sabotage as much as you can. That will hopefully make the incoming Government look bad and then you can get re-elected next election.Labor have never governed for the people; they only govern for themselves and to get re-elected.

The Realist

No surprises really. Labor governments have a long history of leaving finances in a worse state than they have found them… and the longer the term, the worse the situation ( just look at Victoria) What else would you expect from a mob whose only solution to a problem is to throw buckets of cash and sees business as a free flowing cash cow.

Dan

That’s our grandchildren that will have to pay back the debt left by the Labor clown show.

Judgement Day

Just keep writing up debts and lol will be fine. Miles and Anna have destroyed Queensland for years to come

EXCUSES? MYTHS?

Matt

Sounds like he is starting make excuses for when the LNP stuffs the budget...

Mary

I think that you should really check this LNP myth before you start putting it out there. Embarrassing

Qlders cannot have any new taxes or charges, when families cannot afford to buy food .The Treasurer needs to cut Government jobs and spending, its pretty simple .

Canetoad Daz

This will be interesting to see what unfolds, Labor will try and spin it that the rating drop came on the LNP’S watch which will be factually true, but with everyone knowing Labor was to blame.

Dutton’s Delcons

In other words this could happen, it might happen, and yeah ok it hasn’t happened yet, but brace yourselves for the big cuts I’m going to make regardless. We are an LNP govt and we have no regard for the public in helping them with cost of living assistance, we are more interested in what letters we have after our name........
