A 91-year-old woman has been forced to chase away an intruder outside her home in Brisbane’s south after he broke in during broad daylight. WATCH THE VIDEO

A 91-year-old woman has chased an intruder outside her home while carrying her handbag and screaming at him after he broke in and stole several items in broad daylight.

Footage shared to social media shows a man barefoot and in a hoodie running out of a Holland Park West home after being confronted by the elderly woman.

Police are investigating the break and enter in Holland Park West on Wednesday about 8am.

Initial investigations show the man gained entry into the property before stealing a number of items.

The man fled the scene on foot after noticing the homeowner.

The woman was not physically injured in the incident.

Police are asking any witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam vision to come forward.

Investigations are ongoing.

It comes as fed-up residents of a southern Brisbane suburb have formed a 3000-strong group to track crime and patrol their streets after a spate of home invasions and robberies.

Police continue to hunt for the armed gang linked to a series of robberies and property offences across Rochedale South, Carindale, Eagleby, Underwood and Manly West since Monday.

Following one incident, residents of Rochedale South say they are too scared to walk their children to school.

ochedale South resident Brenda Owen said she didn’t feel any more threatened than any other day because “it’s just what Brisbane has become”.
