Boy, 6, and girl, 7, among four killed in horror head-on crash

A young boy and girl are among four victims of a horrific head-on smash that closed a Queensland highway.

Four people, including two children, have been killed in a horror crash on the Capricorn Highway between Comet and Blackwater in Central Queensland.

Those killed were all occupants of a Holden Commodore that collided head-on with a Toyota HiLux about 10.50am on Sunday.

The Commodore driver, a 28-year-old man, was killed, along with another man, 32, and a boy, 6, and girl, 7.

The two occupants of the HiLux, males aged 27 and 28, were taken to hospital with the 27-year-old flown to Brisbane with life-threatening injuries.

Investigations by the police Forensic Crash Unit were continuing.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said one of the vehicles was on fire when crews arrived.

The crash comes after four people, including three teenage friends were killed, after two catastrophic crashes in just a few hours at Mackay.

Police are investigating whether fog played a part in a crash which claimed lives of three teenagers.

The trio of friends, all 19, were travelling in a green Mazda sedan when it crashed head-on with a Great Wall ute about 10.30pm Friday.
