The Gap Village and Ferny Grove Shopping Village both remain closed until further notice due to loss of power, and Greenslopes Mall unexpectedly closed on Sunday afternoon due to severe weather and road conditions.

Just three Coles stores in Northern New South Wales remain closed (Tweed City, Murwillumbah and Ocean Shores), and around 28 stores in various areas across South East Queensland are still closed.

“We appreciate the community’s ongoing patience as our team work hard to reopen as many stores as we can where it is safe to do so,” a Coles spokesperson stated this morning.

“While our distribution centres are back up and running, our stock levels will vary by stores – depending on when our store team have been able to receive deliveries. Our team continue to work extremely hard to restock our shelves, but as this will take time, we have got some purchase limits in place on bottled water, long life milk and toilet paper.”

“Ultimately, we ask our customers to think about their neighbours and only buy what they need for now. We will continue to open our doors when we can, and our customers can expect to see gradual improvements in availability as time goes on.”

A Woolworths spokesman said the majority of stores have reopened across southeast Queensland today.

“After a difficult weekend for communities across South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales, easing weather conditions and updated advice from local authorities have allowed us to reopen the majority of stores and get trucks back on the road,” a Woolworths spokesperson said this morning.

“With a number of communities still on flood-watch, we’re continuing to closely monitor conditions and the advice of authorities to ensure the safety of our team and customers.”

They urged customers to check the latest operating hours for their local store on the Woolworths website, which they aim to update regularly.

While relatively well stocked, Woolworths Ashgrove had depleted supplies of sliced bread, wraps, longlife milk, water, sausages, beef, and pork. There were also supply restrictions imposed on water.

“In the last 32 hours more than 300 truckloads have left our Brisbane distribution centres on route to our stores across Queensland and Northern New South Wales, as our teams work hard to restock our shelves,” they said.

“While this is great progress, getting our stores back to normal will understandably take some time.

“We thank customers for their patience and understanding as stock availability per store will be variable and not all their favourite products will be available immediately.

“We are incredibly grateful to our team members who continued to serve their communities during the uncertainty in the lead-up to this major weather event, and have been back at work almost immediately after to ensure our customers can access food and groceries.”

Riverlink Shopping Centre in Ipswich has announced they will close stores including Woolworths, Coles, Target and Kmart at 4pm today due to current weather warnings and staff shortages.

Customers are encouraged to use the ALDI carpark, and the centre is currently still expected to reopen tomorrow.

A Chemist Warehouse spokesperson said they similarly are assessing stores on an individual basis, with stores opening today where possible.

Customers can call Chemist Warehouse support to check whether their nearest store is open.

A Terry White spokesman said they had some store closures over the weekend but “everyone’s up and running” again today in some capacity.

Uber and UberEats have recommenced operations in Brisbane, Byron Bay, Coffs Harbour, Gold Coast, Hervey Bay, Port Macquarie and Toowoomba.

Localised restrictions are in place with based on government guidance, flooding, and other relevant factors.
