A 16-year-old boy has been charged after another youth was stabbed outside a McDonald’s restaurant north of Brisbane on Saturday night.

The incident happened in front of the outlet on Deception Bay Rd, Deception Bay, about 9.30pm.

Critical-care paramedics transported a 17-year-old youth, of Carseldine in Brisbane, to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with non-life-threatening wounds from an implement to his face, neck and chest.

Police attended and took a number of people into custody.

The 16-year-old, of Deception Bay, was on Sunday night charged with one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and was expected to appear in Redcliffe Children’s Court on Monday. Police investigations were continuing.

A McDonald’s Australia spokeswoman said the restaurant had been forced to shut while the incident unfolded.

“The safety and wellbeing of our people and customers is our top priority,” she said.

“We can confirm emergency services attended McDonald’s Deception Bay on Saturday at approximately 9.30pm.

“The restaurant was temporarily closed while police attended and reopened just before midnight.

“We will continue to provide our full support to all employees working at the time.”

Another boy, 13, of North Lakes has also been charged with one count of unauthorised dealing with shop goods.

He is expected to appear at Redcliffe Children’s Court today.
