Police hunt two after stolen car crash in Woombye leaves three teens injured

Two people are still on the run after an alleged stolen car crash outside a Sunshine Coast high school sent three teens to hospital.

Police are still looking for two people after they were involved in a serious crash outside a Sunshine Coast high school.

Emergency crews responded to the intersection of Nambour Connection Rd and McKenzie Rd, Woombye, out the front of Nambour Christian College, about 8.45pm on May 7.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said on Friday morning two people who allegedly drove a stolen car are still on the run.

Police have urged anyone with information to come forward.

“Initial investigations indicate a blue Toyota Corolla was travelling north on Nambour Connection Road and a white Suzuki Swift was travelling south when the two cars collided at the intersection with McKenzie Road,” she said.

“The driver and passenger of the Toyota ran from the scene before police arrived.

“The 17-year-old female driver and two 17-year-old male passengers of the Suzuki were transported to hospital in stable conditions.”

The spokeswoman said police believed the Corolla was stolen.

“The Toyota vehicle was reportedly stolen from a carpark on Matthew Terrace, Caboolture, after 6.30pm on May 7,” she said.

“The occupants of the Toyota remain outstanding and police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, has information, or dashcam or CCTV footage of the area at the time to contact police.”

A witness told this publication the Corolla did not have its headlights on, and was speeding at the time of the collision.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said one teenager suffered a head and spinal injury, another teenager suffered chest pain, and a third teenager suffered an ankle injury.

All three patients were taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said none of the teenagers were trapped in the vehicle, and fireys left the scene in the hands of police shortly after the crash.
