A 25-year-old computer gamer, the son of the Mayor of Logan, can be revealed as the secret resident of a $4.4 million luxury riverfront apartment overlooking Brisbane’s CBD in Kangaroo Point.

The whole-floor apartment with jaw-dropping city and river views is a long way from Shailer Park in Logan where Lachlan Ross Power grew up with mother Lynne, father Darren and three siblings.

The uni dropout’s neighbours in the Kangaroo Point building made their fortunes in traditional professions such as medicine, car retailing, car racing, property development or as the managing director of a stockmarket listed company.

Power’s identity was inadvertently divulged in the Planning and Environment Court by the prestige real estate agent who sold Power the apartment in July last year.

Place Estate Agents Kangaroo Point director Simon Caulfield did not name Power, but told the court the buyer was a 24-year-old single youtuber, according to the affidavit filed in an unrelated case.

Mr Caulfield did not respond to calls and emails from The Sunday-Mail.

While a household name in the video-gamer world, Power is virtually unknown outside it, and does not court publicity beyond social media posts, declining to speak to The Sunday Mail.

Yet he has done brand partnerships and influencer deals with a who’s who of the world’s corporate giants, including Amazon, Samsung, Emirates, Disney, the Pokemon Company, Niantic Labs, Zambrero, video game companies Ubisoft, Activision and Electronic Arts, and the Drone Racing League.

Power, who mostly plays the game Fortnite, can be seen in videos posted on YouTube filmed in his new abode in the Walan building ,with the city’s night skyline in the background from his 18m-wide balcony.

Agent Simon Caulfield’s colleague Courtney Maguire also told media the buyer was from “the younger demographic”, without revealing his identity.

Lachlan’s 62-year-old mother Lynne, a retired bank branch manager, is listed on company records as owning the apartment through Zenith Ops Pty Ltd as trustee for, or in trust for, a second entity such as a trust, a company or a person.

Power’s friend, lawyer Billy Young, 27, the sole director of Zenith Ops, told The Sunday Mail the apartment was a place for the gamer to stay and film his videos, but it was owned by a Power family trust.

“He moves between Cornubia (Logan) and Kangaroo Point,” Young said.

“He is from Logan; that’s where his friends and family are, so he goes between the two.

“It’s like a family trust apartment; it belongs to the family.”

The principal place of business of Zenith Ops is listed as Power’s other home in Cornubia, company documents state.

It is not Power’s first home either - it’s his third.

When he was 18 Power bought an apartment in Newstead for $462,000, and six years ago he bought a block of land on Norman Drive, Cornubia, where he built a seven-bedroom bachelor pad and fitted it with out with flashy custom features such as a half basketball court, pool, a custom bar with backlit marble benchtops and feature stone wall cladding.

Power is the sixth biggest youtuber in the country, ranked by subscriber numbers, according to social media tracking site Socialblade.

And he is fast building a mini empire and buying the boys toys to go with it - a life most would dream of

Six months ago he was dating international lingerie model Morgan Krizmanich.

They broke up when she had to return home to Canada due to COVID-19 in August.

He has a designer groodle dog named Otto, a wall of fashionable shoes artfully displayed in a massive walk in wardrobe, and drives a black $200,000 Tesla Model X SUV – with DeLorean-style gull-wing doors - with number plates BANTER and yellow paint decals.

He has also used his US lawyers to trademark the lightning bolt logo he uses and last month he launched his now-sold-out brand of sweatshirts and hoodies, for $110 each.

Fans can even buy a figurine of him from a Canadian toy company.

He has 14.6 million YouTube subscribers, and is estimated to be on track to earn at least $2.6 million this year, based on calculations by Socialblade.

However his actual income could be double this when endorsements and merchandise are included.

Fortnite maker Epic Games pays him about $US5 ($A6.40) for every 10,000 V-Bucks spent by players who elect to support Power in Fortnite games.

Epic has created a “skin”, or avatar, of Power that players can use in games.

As the sixth biggest youtuber nationwide, he ranks two spots above his nearest video game rival, Sydney’s Muselk, 25. His real name is Elliott Watkins, 25, and he last year hit headlines when he splashed out $9 million on a house at Tamarama in Sydney’s east.

Power and Watkins are friends, and they have gone on ski trips to Canada as part of gaming promotions.

Lachlan was the first Australian gaming youtuber to reach 10 million subscribers in 2015.

Power’s father Darren earned his green beret and parachute wings in a commando regiment, then later joined the Australian Federal Police where he worked in the close protection and consulate patrols.

Now the Mayor of Logan, Cr Power has declared an interest in five properties in Brisbane as part of his register of interests.

They include joint ownership with wife Lynne of the family home in Shailer Park, as well as vacant land next door, and as a beneficiary of a trust which owns three other properties - a Newstead unit, a house in Cornubia and a house next door to his own home.

In 2019 Lachlan Power won a Nickelodeon award in the US for favourite content creator, the same year he competed in the Fortnite World Cup Pro Am in Los Angeles and won $60,000, which he donated to charity.

Pre-COVID-19 he often travelled overseas - mostly to the US, but also Japan - to play video gaming tournaments and promote game releases and his YouTube channel.

The No.1 youtuber in Australia is Bounce Patrol, which does kids’ songs by Shannon Jones from Melbourne, followed by Lannan Eacott, a 26-year-old from the NSW Central Coast.

Third is Chloe Ting, a fitness guru from Melbourne, then a toy tester and a send up of how to fix things channel.
