Police are on the hunt for an alleged car thief who stole a man’s vehicle outside a gym in Brisbane’s east.

Police are on the hunt for an alleged car thief who stole a man’s vehicle outside a gym in Brisbane’s east.

About 4am on Wednesday, a man was confronted by another man outside a fitness centre on Railway Terrace in Lota.

Police will allege the offender threatened the 36-year-old man and demanded the keys to his grey 2017 Volkswagen Polo hatch.

Police believe a man – described as of caucasian appearance – who was last seen wearing a black hoodie and driving a Volkswagen Polo may be able to assist investigations.

The stolen vehicle was last spotted at 9.15am on Monday on Wondall Road, Wynnum. The registration plates have been removed.

Anyone with information regarding the man’s identity, including CCTV or dashcam footage of the area around this time, is urged to contact police.
