A man has been charged following a dramatic citizen’s arrest at Brisbane Airport’s domestic terminal on Thursday.

The man appeared to be wearing a lime e-scooter helmet when he was slammed to the ground by Virgin cabin crew and a member of the public.

The Courier-Mail has obtained footage of the dramatic incident in the Virgin terminal at Brisbane’s domestic airport on Thursday.

The man, who was carrying a large backpack and wearing a white T-shirt and light green pants, was forcibly subdued at gate 45 about 11.20am.

As he attempted to escape, he allegedly threatened staff.

“F--- off”,” he was heard to say.

The Courier Mail understands the passenger was denied boarding following alleged disruptive behaviour towards both passengers and crew on an earlier flight.

A helmet is not a prohibited item under the Aviation Transport Security Regulation, set down by the Commonwealth.

A Virgin Australia spokeswoman said crews responded quickly to subdue the disruptive passenger before police arrived.

A man in a green shirt straddled him as he continued to thrash on the ground, attempting to break free from the crew members.

The struggle between the man and those attempting to restrain him continued for 15 minutes before authorities arrived and arrested him.

Passengers and onlookers could be seen crowding around and observing the struggle but no alarm was raised.

The man did not resist arrest and was escorted out of the terminal by police.

A Brisbane Airport spokesman said there was no delay to passengers or flights due to the incident.

“Brisbane Airport would like to thank passengers who assisted following an incident at the Domestic Terminal near Gate 45,” they said.

“Passengers helped to restrain a man along with crew members until Australian Federal Police arrived.”

An AFP spokesman said police responded to a request for assistance about an alleged disruptive passenger.

“The AFP arrested the man shortly after and transported him to the Brisbane Watch house,” he said

He confirmed there was no ongoing threat to the community.

The AFP have since charged the man with one count of assaulting an airline employee and one count of public nuisance.

He has been granted bail and is scheduled to appear in Brisbane Magistrates court on June 26.
