Josh McGuire charged with strangulation and common assault
Former Broncos, Cowboys and Queensland star Josh McGuire has been charged with one count each of strangulation and common assault.

McGuire who last played for the Warrington Wolves and had previously played for the Brisbane Broncos and the North Queensland Cowboys, as well as Queensland and Australia, was arrested and charged on Tuesday after investigations by Queensland Police.
He was charged with one count each of choking or strangulation and common assault.
He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on December 17.
McGuire played 269 games in the National Rugby League competition across four teams in a 14-year career, scoring 14 tries.
He made most of his appearance for the Brisbane Broncos, for whom he played 197 games.
The 35-year-old played for Queensland 14 times at State of Origin level - scoring a single try - while at international level he represented the Kangaroos and Samoa.
Following his NRL career, he played for the Warrington Wolves in the Super League competition in 2023, after signing a two-year deal.
However, McGuire and the team parted ways via mutual agreement in June of that year.
In 2024, he returned to the Broncos as a member of the coaching staff and retained that role until earlier this year.
