QUEENSLAND’S Crime and Corruption Commission says it has no immediate plans to charge any more professional footballers despite the revelations of disgraced code-hopper Karmichael Hunt.
Hunt allegedly identified a number of former Gold Coast Suns teammates and a rugby league star in a statement to law enforcement officers before he appeared in court on drug charges earlier this year.

The CCC released a statement this afternoon saying it did not have sufficient evidence to issue further charges at this point.
“While a range of information and allegations have been raised during the course of the investigation, the CCC does not have sufficient evidence to warrant further criminal charges against any player from the AFL, NRL or ARU,’’ the statement said.
“However, consistent with any law enforcement investigation, if new information comes to hand relevant to the CCC’s ongoing investigation, further charges may be considered.
“The CCC’s investigation into a cocaine-trafficking syndicate operating in southeast Queensland remains ongoing. As the CCC has repeatedly stated, its investigation is focused on the syndicate and not on illicit drug use in sport.
“The CCC’s investigation has focused on individuals who are alleged either to be involved in the syndicate or to have sourced illicit drugs from the syndicate.
“There are currently a number of matters before the courts resulting from this investigation. The courts are the appropriate and proper place for allegations and evidence to be presented and tested.’’
The CCC confirmed it had been contacted by the Gold Coast Suns seeking information from the crime body’s investigation to assists with their own inquiry into Hunt’s allegations.
“The CCC appreciates that the Gold Coast Suns are progressing their own internal processes but given that there are related matters before the courts, the CCC has advised the Suns today that it is unable to assist with any request for operational information,’’ the statement said.
