Fire has engulfed two dwellings in the Townsville suburb of Garbutt.

The fire broke out in Ramsay St about 6.10pm on Sunday.

Firefighters worked to bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading to neighbouring properties.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said multiple crews responded to the fire.

“We have five crews on scene,” the spokesman said.

“Crews are working externally and internally on fire suppression.

“All persons were out and accounted for prior to arrival.”

As of 9pm, firefighters had the fire under control and were dampening down hotspots.

It followed another house fire at Mackay that left a woman dead and her son seriously injured.
