Shocking photos have revealed the damage to a car and truck involved in a horror collision on the Bruce Highway which resulted in the death of a man.

Videos footage shows the aftermath of a fiery crash between a car and a truck carrying milk in which a man died.

The crash occurred on the Bruce Highway at Port Curtis, near Whyte Rd, south of Rockhampton about 3.20am on Monday.

The impact of the collision caused the truck to roll and catch fire.

Police confirmed that a male occupant of the car had died in the two-vehicle crash.

A rail passenger travelling past the area has taken a video of the scene showing multiple police investigating the crash.

A partially burnt truck is on its side across the highway, blocking it in both directions.

The driver of the truck was not physically injured, and was taken to Rockhampton Hospital for assessment.

A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said four crews attended the scene.

“The truck was well involved and it was rolled and blocking the highway in both directions,” a QFD spokeswoman said.

It is understood the fire spread from the cabin to a trailer, with crews finally able to put it out by 4.20am.

The Bruce Highway was expected to be for several hours, with diversions in place at Gavial Gracemere Rd and the Burnett Highway, but motorists were being urged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.

It was still closed at 5.30pm, more than 12 hours after the crash.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the fatality.

Anyone with information or relevant footage in the area at the time of the incident is asked to contact police.
