A Northern Territory politician has copped a fine from council after setting up a barbecue in a disable parking spot.
CLP’s Member for Brennan Marie-Clare Boothby was issued an infringement by Palmerston Council after taking up a disabled parking spot at Sanctuary Lakes in Gunn on May 15.
“Yes, I was issued with a fine after partially setting up my BBQ in a disabled parking spot,” she said.
“By way of explanation, but not as justification, I was in the process of setting up the BBQ which was being transported in a trailer.
“I had intended to move once I was unpacked, and I deeply regret that I didn’t do this.
“There is absolutely no excuse and I am gutted that I allowed this to happen.
“Upon being notified by council that a complaint had been received I admitted responsibility, requested an infringement notice be issued, and I paid it immediately.”
