Territorians who have been to NSW since April 30 urged to continually check NT COVID-19 case location watch list

Territorians and visitors to the NT are being encouraged to continually check the full list of COVID-19 case locations, if they have been in New South Wales since April 30.

India: why is COVID aid not reaching those who need it most?

TERRITORIANS and visitors to the NT are being encouraged to continually check the full list of COVID-19 case locations, if they have been in New South Wales since April 30.

With anyone who has been in the area possibly becoming required to quarantine at a suitable place, effective immediately, and anyone showing symptoms of COVID-19 urged to book a COVID-19 test immediately, NT health authorities are urging Territorians to stay vigilant.

NT Chief health officer Dr Charles Pain said the new advice came following an expansion of the COVID-19 case location list after the announcement of a second community case in NSW today – a close contact of the male in his 50s who tested positive yesterday.

“The additional advice I am providing today is particularly timely after reports of a second community case in New South Wales,” he said.

“New South Wales health authorities have been able to undertake quick and efficient contact tracing thanks to the thorough use of check-in technology by these two people, and their own diligence in being tested rapidly.”

Dr Pain said use of the Territory Check-In app, another QR code, or manual entry remained mandatory at all NT venues.

He encouraged Territorians to continue to use check-in systems to help NT health authorities to act quickly and undertake contact tracing if required.

“I encourage all Territorians to monitor their health, and if showing any symptoms, no matter how mild, seek a test,” he said.

“Checking-in at venues also remains a critical part of the Northern Territories defence against COVID-19 and I encourage patrons and business owners alike to ensure they are doing the right thing and checking in, or encouraging their patrons to do so.”

Dr Pain will continue to review and assess the COVID-19 situation across Australia, and will take into account COVID-19 monitoring and data collection, the extent of community transmission and risks to the NT community.
