Chief health officer revokes regional Victoria’s Covid-19 hotspot status
The NT’s acting chief health officer has revoked regional Victoria as a Covid-19 hotspot for travel purposes, effective immediately.

Regional Victoria’s status as a NT Covid-19 hotspot for travel purposes has been revoked, effective immediately.
A statement from the NT government this evening says acting chief health officer Dr Charles Pain had revoked the region’s hotspot status as of 6pm tonight.
Greater Melbourne is still classed as a hotspot.
Dr Charles Pain said he had made the decision based on the lack of recent Covid-19 cases. in regional Victoria.

“I have been monitoring Victoria closely this past few weeks and there have been no Covid-19 cases or transmission associated with regional Victoria exposure sites,” he said.
“This means I am able to lift the regional Victoria hotspot this evening.
“I would like to acknowledge and thank affected individuals who have co-operated with our chief health officer COVID-19 directions, which are put in place to keep the Northern Territory safe.”
Dr Pain also reminded Territorians to come forward and get tested if they had Covid-19 symptoms.
“Recent events in Victoria show how important it is for everyone to play their part in fighting off this pandemic so we can return to life as normal as soon as possible,” he said.
