A MAJORITY of Territorians believe the possession of cannabis for personal use should be legalised in the Northern Territory, according to an online poll of NT News readers.
The poll, which aims to find out what voters want versus what the major parties are proposing, found that 56 per cent of readers were in favour of legalising cannabis for personal use.
Just over a third of voters – 35 per cent – were against the proposal and 9 per cent said they were undecided.
Nearly 180 people had voted in the poll by close of business yesterday.

The result is in stark contrast to the stances of all three major parties running for the upcoming Territory election, with Labor, the CLP and Territory Alliance all stating they are opposed to legalising cannabis for personal or recreational use.
Territory Alliance outright ruled out the possibility of legalising recreational cannabis, while both Territory Labor and the CLP told the NT News they have no plans for legalisation if elected.
