CHIEF Minister Michael Gunner has pointed to past financial scandals plaguing previous CLP Governments as a reason to vote Labor in next weekend’s election.
Mr Gunner made an impassioned plea for support at the official campaign launch for NT Labor at the Darwin Entertainment Centre this afternoon, saying NT Labor have “governed for all, not for ourselves.”

“Tax-payer funded overseas trips to a luxury suite at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, with private massages paid for the taxpayer? None of that,” he said in reference to a scandal surrounding former CLP deputy Chief Minister and current independent candidate for Brennan Peter Chandler.
He fronted the group of Labor volunteers alongside his deputy Nicole Manison in her first public appearance in more than two weeks.
It comes after speculation the NT Government had intentionally been hiding Ms Manison from the media following her announcement in late July that Territorians would cop an $8.2 billion debt next year.
During his speech, Mr Gunner said he wants to make Darwin the “comeback capital” after what he described as “the Territory’s toughest year.”
“A different kind of global menace has required an orderly and steady response. We have delivered that,” he said.
“The Territory is where we can launch our nation’s comeback, and I want Darwin to be the comeback capital,” he said.

He also paid homage to former Labor MLA and the Territory’s first Aboriginal cabinet minister John Ah Kit, who died in July.
“A final bit of inspiration from a man who inspired us all,” Mr Gunner said in reference to a picture of a John Ah Kit campaign shirt from 1995.
