THE majority of Territorians polled by the NT News want to see the government’s controversial banned drinker register scrapped.
Of the 441 readers polled up to 2pm on Friday, 48 per cent said they did not support the continuation of the BRD while only 43 per cent said they’d like to see it stay.

Territory Labor earlier told the NT News they had no plans of scrapping the BDR if re-elected, saying it was “part of a suite of measures” aimed at cutting crime and anti-social behaviour while lowering alcohol-related harm.
The Country Liberal Party did not commit to ditching the drinkers register but instead told the NT News a CLP government would “review” the BDR to see if it was “operating as intended”.

Territory Alliance said it also had no plans to scrap the BRD, saying the move should not be considered until the underlying issues that contribute to alcohol abuse were “in hand”.
