The video, posted to social media on Sunday, shows the local member’s two dogs nudging open the glass sliding door from the inside, then running out.

Shortly later, the video cuts to a clip of a large white Brahman poking its head through the gap left in the door, before it then barges into the house.

Word must’ve quickly spread on the property, with the next clip showing a horse also making its way into Mr Mackay’s house, as another watches on from outside the door.

While all animals were found safe and well, the member joked that the furry intruders had now experienced the luxury of airconditioning and would likely stage repeat attempts to escape the Territory’s sweltering temperatures.

“Note to self: The dogs can’t be trusted with door security...” he wrote.

“Dinner finished early last night when I decided to check the pet cam to find Thunder figured out how to nuzzle open the door.

“Thankfully all of the pets were fine but now the outside animals know what aircon feels like and will no doubt try again.”

It’s far from the first time Mr Mackay has led his constituents into his home life.

As Cyclone Fina approached two weeks ago, Mr Mackay took to social media to encourage his constituents to make an exception for their pets and livestock by sharing a picture of his toilet room crammed with several chickens cozying up.
